Medisec Training is now able to offer Medical Terminology courses through distance learning.
An “ Introduction to Medical Terminology “day will be held twice a year in September and January . Attendance on the Introductory Day is not compulsory but would be beneficial. On this day long course, candidates will be taught the first two modules of ten .
Each module consists of:-

Revision test from previous module
-
Anatomy and Physiology of a body system (such as the Circulatory System)
-
Terminology relating to the specific system.

Abbreviations, roots, suffixes and prefixes
-
One other topic such as Medical Investigations, Procedures, Medical staff and Hospital Departments, Drugs and prescription writing .
Following the Introduction day each module will be sent via email on a
regular basis. The recommended study time is 5-10 hours per module. On successful completion of each module, the next one will be forwarded, starting with a revision test on the previous module to assess the candidate’s progress. The final module will consist of practice examination papers and revision in preparation for the AMSPAR exam which is held three times a year in November, February and May. Candidates must register to sit the AMSPAR examination at least 6 weeks before the scheduled exam date.
Telephone and email contact will be maintained throughout the course for guidance and advice.
The cost for the Introduction Day will be £50 payable in
advance. Should the candidate wish to continue the course through distance learning, the remainder of the course fee (£200 ) is payable at the end of the Introduction Day.
Provisional dates for the next two Introduction Days are Saturday
26th January 2008 in Stockport and Tuesday 29th January
2008 in London (to be confirmed). Candidates must register at least two weeks before the
Introductory Day by completing the form on the registration
